Design an intelligent controller for full vehicle nonlinear active suspension systems
The main objective of designed the controller for a vehicle suspension system is to reduce the discomfort sensed by passengers which arises from road roughness and to increase the ride handling associated with the pitching and rolling movements. This necessitates a very fast and accurate controller to meet as much control objectives, as possible. Therefore, this paper deals with an artificial intelligence Neuro-Fuzzy (NF) technique to design a robust controller to meet the control objectives. The advantage of this controller is that it can handle the nonlinearities faster than other conventional controllers. The approach of the proposed controller is to minimize the vibrations on each corner of vehicle by supplying control forces to suspension system when travelling on rough road. The other purpose for using the NF controller for vehicle model is to reduce the body inclinations that are made during intensive manoeuvres including braking and cornering. A full vehicle nonlinear active suspension system is introduced and tested. The robustness of the proposed controller is being assessed by comparing with an optimal Fractional Order (FOPID) controller. The results show that the intelligent NF controller has improved the dynamic response measured by decreasing the cost function

Hierarchical Control Strategy for Active Hydropneumatic Suspension Vehicles Based on Genetic Algorithms
A new hierarchical control strategy for active hydropneumatic suspension systems is proposed. This strategy considers the dynamic characteristics of the actuator. The top hierarchy controller uses a combined control scheme: a genetic algorithm- (GA-) based self-tuning proportional-integral-derivative controller and a fuzzy logic controller. For practical implementations of the proposed control scheme, a GA-based self-learning process is initiated only when the defined performance index of vehicle dynamics exceeds a certain debounce time threshold. The designed control algorithm is implemented on a virtual prototype and cosimulations are
performed with different road disturbance inputs. Cosimulation results show that the active hydropneumatic suspension system designed in this study significantly improves riding comfort characteristics of vehicles. The robustness and adaptability of the proposed controller are also examined when the control system is subjected to extremely rough road conditions
Pump Pulse Bandwidth-Activated Nonlinear Phononic Coupling in CdWO
To control structure-function relationships in solids with light, we must
harness the shape of the potential energy surface, as expressed in anharmonic
coupling coefficients. We use two-dimensional terahertz (THz) spectroscopy to
identify trilinear coupling between sets of vibrational modes in CdWO. It
is generally understood that efficient trilinear coupling occurs when the
frequencies of two coupled modes add or subtract to the frequency of the third
mode. Interestingly, we observe that this condition is not necessary: the THz
driving-pulse itself can activate the coupling by contributing broad frequency
content to the initial motion of the excited modes. Understanding that the
bandwidth of the driving force can activate energy-flow pathways has broad
implications for coherent control of collective modes using intense THz light
pulses.Comment: 27 Pages, 15 Figure
Seasonal effects on HPLC-DAD-UV and UPLC-ESI-MS fingerprints and analgesic activities of vernonia condensata baker extracts
Vernonia condensata Baker leaves have different uses in Brazilian folk medicine, including as analgesic and anti-inflammatory agents. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the seasonal effects on their high performance liquid chromatography with a diode array detector (HPLC-DAD-UV) and ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled to a mass spectrometer with an electrospray interface (UPLC-ESI-MS) fingerprints, as well as their analgesic activities in mice. There were significant seasonal effects on the relative abundances of the metabolites of the V. condensate leaves as well as on their activities. Analgesic activities in the writhing test were observed with the polar fraction of the leaf extracts collected in autumn, winter and summer (400 mg kg(-1)); and with the intermediate fraction of leaves collected in autumn (25 and 400 mg kg(-1)) and in the summer (100 mg kg(-1)). In conclusion, the results confirm peripherally-mediated anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities for V. condensata leaves and suggest that these are influenced by the harvesting season. N-oxides alkaloids as well as vernonioside play important roles in determining this activity262350358CONSELHO NACIONAL DE DESENVOLVIMENTO CIENTĂFICO E TECNOLĂGICO - CNPQCOORDENAĂĂO DE APERFEIĂOAMENTO DE PESSOAL DE NĂVEL SUPERIOR - CAPESFundacao Araucari
Multiobjective optimization of facility layout problem: A new mathematical model
Abstract
This paper presents a new multiobjetive mathematical model for optimization of facility layout problem with unequal areas called UA-FLP with fixed dimensions. One of the objectives is the minimization of the material handling cost and the other one is the minimization of the closeness relationships according to factors that are independents of the flows and costs. The validation of the mathematical model was made with problems found in the literature. The result was that the proposed model represents the unequal area facility layout problem with fixed dimensions optimizing the material handling cost and the closeness relationships for small problems and finding good solutions for bigger problems in 10,000 seconds of computer time
Control of a 3-RRR planar parallel robot using fractional order PID controller
3-RRR planar parallel robots are utilized for solving precise material-handling problems in industrial automation applications. Thus, robust and stable control is required to deliver high accuracy in comparison to the state of the art. The operation of the mechanism is achieved based on three revolute (3-RRR) joints which are geometrically designed using an open-loop spatial robotic platform. The inverse kinematic model of the system is derived and analyzed by using the geometric structure with three revolute joints. The main variables in our design are the platform base positions, the geometry of the joint angles, and links of the 3-RRR planar parallel robot. These variables are calculated based on Cayley-Menger determinants and bilateration to determine the final position of the platform when moving and placing objects. Additionally, a proposed fractional order proportional integral derivative (FOPID) is optimized using the bat optimization algorithm to control the path tracking of the center of the 3-RRR planar parallel robot. The design is compared with the state of the art and simulated using the Matlab environment to validate the effectiveness of the proposed controller. Furthermore, real-time implementation has been tested to prove that the design performance is practical
